Link in bio statistics.
Over 100 numbers on the link-in-bio category for 2026 — market size, who uses one, what they click — plus original data from the first 91 freelancer pages on Folio. Every figure is sourced. Take any of them.

The numbers most people come here for.
The link-in-bio market was worth $1.8 billion in 2025 and is growing at 15.2% a year. Linktree passed 50 million users and holds roughly 80% of the category. Bento, the designed-page alternative, shut down on February 13, 2026, two years after Linktree bought it. A bio link converts at about 1.4% on Instagram and 3.4% on TikTok. 49% of link-in-bio users are in the United States and 64% are women.
And from our own database, which is where this page starts: the median freelancer page has 4 blocks, not the fifteen-button stack the category is known for. LinkedIn nearly ties Instagram as the most-linked platform, 50 links to 51. 80% flag themselves available for work. Only 13% put payment details on the page — which means 87% of freelancers still get paid somewhere else, usually a DM.
Our data: what freelancers actually put on the page.
Folio is a link-in-bio built for freelancers, so our database is a direct record of what working freelancers choose to show. We looked at the 91 pages with real content as of August 17, 2026, counting only blocks the owner added themselves. Starter content that ships with a new page is flagged in our system and was excluded, so nothing below reflects our defaults. It's a small, early sample and we re-run the numbers as the base grows. Nobody else publishes this cut, because nobody else's database is only freelancers.
The median page has 4 blocks.
The average page carries 4.7 blocks and the median is 4. Nobody rebuilds their whole web presence in a bio link. The pattern that keeps repeating is a tight page: some work, two or three social links and a way to get in touch. That matches how these pages get used, one glance on a phone between other things.
| Block type | Share of pages | Total blocks |
|---|---|---|
| Links | 81% | 251 |
| Portfolio (work shown on the page) | 43% | 141 |
| Contact | 16% | 15 |
| Pay-Me (payment details) | 13% | 13 |

LinkedIn nearly ties Instagram.
The link-in-bio category grew up on Instagram, so we expected Instagram to dominate. It doesn't. Across all 251 links, LinkedIn sits at 50 and Instagram at 51, a statistical tie. Freelancers aren't influencers: they win work where clients are, and for half of them that's LinkedIn. Behance beating X two to one points the same direction, portfolio platforms outrank broadcast ones.
| Platform | Links | Share of all links |
|---|---|---|
| 51 | 20% | |
| 50 | 20% | |
| Behance | 36 | 14% |
| X (Twitter) | 17 | 7% |
| Dribbble | 12 | 5% |
| GitHub | 9 | 4% |
| YouTube | 8 | 3% |
80% say they're available for work.
Four in five freelancers turn on the available-for-work flag. These pages aren't business cards, they're storefronts with the open sign lit. The care shows elsewhere too: 92% upload an avatar and 93% write a bio, numbers you don't see when a page is set up once and abandoned.

Only 13% put payment details on the page.
The number that surprised us most is the smallest one. 43% of freelancers show work directly on the page, but only 13% put payment details there, even on a product where that block is free. The other 87% still handle getting paid somewhere else, usually by typing bank details into a DM when the moment comes. The gap between "here's my work" and "here's how to pay me" is the least-built part of the freelancer web.

Click-through and conversion benchmarks.
The honest headline: a bio link is a low-percentage surface, so the page it lands on has to do the work. Under 100k followers, most creators see between 0.5% and 3% of profile visits reach the link. The difference between the bottom and the top of that range is almost entirely what the page does once someone arrives.

Getting paid — the part the category skipped.
Every number here describes the same gap our own data found. Freelancers present themselves well online and then fall back to a DM when it's time to get paid, and that handoff is where the money gets stuck.

You're welcome to use any number on this page. For our own figures, cite "Folio link-in-bio data, August 2026" and link to this page. For compiled figures, cite the publisher named in the table — the full list is below. If you're writing about link-in-bio tools or freelancing and want a custom cut of our data, email us and we'll run it for you.
Method and honesty notes.
Our figures come from a one-off analysis of Folio's production database on August 17, 2026, covering the 91 pages that had real, owner-added content. Blocks that arrive as starter template content are flagged in our schema and were excluded. It is a small sample and an early one, and every conclusion we draw from it should be read that way.
Compiled figures are attributed to the organisation that published them, not to us. Some come from primary research (Upwork's Future Workforce Index, Statista, PitchBook); others come from industry roundups whose own sourcing we could not always verify to the original study. We've named the publisher in every row so you can check before you cite. Where two sources disagreed we kept the one with the clearer methodology and dropped the other rather than average them.

Questions
How many link-in-bio statistics are on this page?
Over 100, across the category, its users, click-through benchmarks, the freelance economy, payments and the creator economy — plus around twenty from our own database that aren't published anywhere else.
How many pages did you analyze for your own data?
91 freelancer pages with real, owner-added content, as of August 17, 2026. Template starter content was excluded, so none of the numbers reflect Folio's defaults.
What is the average link-in-bio click-through rate?
For creators under 100,000 followers it sits between 0.5% and 3% of profile visits. A page with a strong lead magnet and a clear call to action reaches 5–8%, and anything above 10% is exceptional.
How many people use Linktree?
Over 50 million registered users, with roughly 40,000 new signups a day. Across tracked link-in-bio users it holds about 80% of the category.
What happened to Bento?
Linktree acquired Bento in June 2024 and shut it down on February 13, 2026. User pages, data and content were removed on that date; anyone who didn't export beforehand lost the page.
Will you update these numbers?
Yes. We re-run our own analysis as the user base grows and refresh the compiled figures alongside it, and the date at the top of the page is always the real one.
Can I use these statistics in my article?
Yes. Cite our figures as "Folio link-in-bio data, August 2026" with a link to this page, and cite compiled figures to the publisher named in each table.
What counts as a block?
Anything a freelancer places on their page: a link, a piece of work, a contact card, a payment block, a text note or an embed.
One link away from your next client.
Claim your handle and give clients one link with everything they need to hire you.
